Moray Positive Pregnancy Walks

On the last Sunday of the month (usually) join me and others for a Positive Pregnancy Walk in Findhorn or Forres at 2.30pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come along and share experiences, ask any questions you might have and meet new friends. Partners and other children are most welcome too. If the weather is unsuitable or we aren't up for walking, we'll share a cuppa together instead or go along to the Play Park with toddlers - it's all very relaxed and friendly. One woman stated “….So lovely to get meeting other mums to be and families, especially as I'm not originally from the area. Can't wait for the next meet up.”

Additionally, families really seem to enjoy and benefit from returning to our community after their births to share their experience, celebrate, grieve, introduce their babies and ask questions about early parenting. Everyone is welcome, whatever your experience was.

As part of the walks, I
can signpost to evidence based information as appropriate and facilitate increased knowledge around the birthing process and early parenting. I lend books and other resources such as birth pools, TENS machine to help people during their birth and postnatal period. We visit the Family Boutique in the Findhorn Ecovillage when there is interest, this is a free resource with lots of clothes and equipment for pregnancy and baby care, this supports a circular economy, recycling and saves money.

Upcoming dates are Sept 29th and Oct 27th

We will usually meet at the crossroads at the entrance to the Phoenix Cafe in Findhorn Ecovillage. Here is a google link for the location. When you enter the Ecovillage you take a slight left and then go straight through the mini roundabout. We meet at the top of this road, you can park anywhere along this street.

Get in touch if you have any questions, hope to see you then.

Some of what folk reported back about the walks...

“The walk was a really important and valuable way for me to connect with other women and share different thoughts, anxieties, hopes and inspirations for what the birth of my child might be like. Also in terms of understanding what my body was going through at that time and having that shared camaraderie with other women. I feel like I had people to talk to, not only on the walks, but also to develop friendships for the future and supporting me as a new mother at a time when I really needed that support. And that was all facilitated by Fiona who was great at making an inclusive event and connecting people and also signposting us to other events or opportunities to connect.”

“The Positive Pregnancy walk was a fantastic opportunity to meet other expectant patients, hear about others experiences and thing about birth options in a relaxed and low pressure environment. Fiona is very knowledgeable but more importantly, she is supportive, kind and great at listening to you and what your concerns and hopes are. I would absolutely recommend joining the positive pregnancy walk to make connections and get support”

“As a Dad-to-be, I really found Fiona’s walks beneficial. It was great to receive guidance and suggestions from Fiona and others present and to hear their experiences. There are not many places for expectant Dad’s to express their feelings and anxieties around birth and fatherhood, and I was grateful for the opportunity to do so.”

“Fiona’s Pregnancy Walks provide a welcoming/relaxed opportunity to meet other expectant parents and enjoy a walk together whilst also sharing the ups and downs of the journey to meeting our babies. Navigating the final weeks of pregnancy can be particularly challenging due to the logistics of accessing the full range of maternity services in our area, so it is reassuring to be able to hear positive birth stories from those who continue to attend after the birth of their baby/babies too.”
