Maternity Reflexology
Maternity reflexology is a specialized form of reflexology to help support the parents and baby from preconception to after birth. At this time of immense change, both internally and externally, reflexology helps to facilitate deep relaxation and reduce stress. It can assist in preventing or alleviating many of the common symptoms associated with pregnancy, such as:
- Morning sickness
- Heartburn
- Hormonal and menopausal imbalances
- Nausea and headaches
- Back Pain
- Swelling and discomfort
- Oedema
- Insomnia
- Digestive problems
Reflexology can also greatly assist prior to and during labour, studies carried out in the UK and Denmark have shown that reflexology can speed up labour and dramatically reduce pain. It can also help to encourage the onset of labour. Here are some of the benefits:
- induce calmness and relaxation
- encourage well being and balance
- reduce pain
- increase energy levels
- aid lactation
- prevent or reduce post natal depression
Reflexology for Fertility
Reflexology can help to prepare parents for pregnancy, by increasing fertility and sperm production and regulating the menstrual cycle. It can help to balance and harmonise hormone levels. Polycystic ovaries, cervical problems, adhesions (more commonly known as scar tissue), pelvic inflammatory disease, premenstrual syndrome, hormonal imbalances, blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, endometriosis, and menstrual problems, have all shown improvement from reflexology (Holt et al 2009, McCullough et al 2014 and Tiran D 2010). It can be an aid for IVF treatment.

"Fiona's reflexology treatments come highly recommended! Fiona has a beautiful calming nature and her reflexology massages are extremely relaxing. I had 2 treatments during my pregnancy - one at 36 weeks where I had complained about pelvic pain and constipation. Just after the first treatment, within minutes, my body felt different - I instantly felt the benefits. My 2nd treatment was at 38 weeks - Fiona's massage was that good that within 30mins my waters broke! I recommend Fiona to my mamas to be. It is the best place to go to if you are looking to relax, float and release for the hour ❤ Thanks Fiona!" Rosy (Yogabellies yoga teacher)
"I am not a person who relaxes easily, however with Fiona and reflexology I have
found a truly relaxing treatment and therapist. Fiona is someone who is so skilled at what she does, that I am at ease within minutes. The sensitivity and care with which she carries out her treatments are exceptional. Particularly during my pregnancy I found each and every reflexology treatment to be very beneficial for me and my baby" (Angela, Mum and Psychologist)
“I just wanted to let you know that the reflexology made a real difference to my hips - they were much softer and freer for much of the last week, so I may have to call on you again!“ (Annabel, pregnant 2nd trimester)
