Birth Preparation Workshop
This practical and experiential workshop equips you with the knowledge and skills to enhance your birth experience. It aims to help you and your birth companion feel more positive, prepared and confident for your upcoming birth and your ability to cope with labour. It will explore what women (and you in particular might) find supportive in terms of massage, movement and breath, and investigate other practical techniques that may help relieve pain or intensity during labour. We emphasise the significance of your partners role and will look at how birth partners can support women to feel more comfortable, at ease and relaxed during labour and birth.
The areas we will explore include:
Fiona has been working with birth for over 10 years as a birth and postnatal doula. She has accumulated much knowledge from her experience, trainings and evidence based research. She can answer questions you might have, address any concerns and signpost relevant information.

"Fiona’s class paved a solid foundation for our birth journey.
We took the workshop in our third trimester, and so physically and hormonally both me and my husband were feeling the impending birth as something very real. The workshop made what is often the ‘unknown’ into a ‘known’. Knowing what to expect and to learn so many ways to work with the body through the stages gave us confidence. To have the practical but concise physiological and biological information about birth and to understand what will happen; as well as different tools to find comfort and focus through what might be intense sensations were incredibly beneficial.
My husband felt insecure and unsure in the beginning about his role at birth, but after the class he was clear about the many ways he can be fully present in and a part of the birth process with the many skills he learned from Fiona and he was the best birthing partner/support for me.
The practical skills and knowledge and the information Fiona has to offer is immense, and she delivers it in a way that is simple to understand and implement. The amount of what we learned is impressive, and yet we didn’t feel overwhelmed, thanks to Fiona’s relaxed and practical approach.
I highly recommend taking her Birth Prep class a few weeks before the big day. Fiona will help you build a solid foundation for you and your partner to stand on through out the journey to and on the big day, equipping you with the knowledge and tools to experience with confidence that unforgettable special day."
